HUMANE SOCIETY OF WICOMICO COUNTY For over 30 years, the Humane Society of Wicomico County has provided temporary shelter for the County's homeless and unwanted animals. Our services aren't just for dogs and cats...we've also helped horses, goats, rabbits and chickens. OAK RIDGE MOPS A new mother’s support group called Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) has opened its doors in Salisbury. MOPS is an informal and fun support group designed to meet the distinct needs of moms with young children (ages birth through kindergarten). It is a charter group from MOPS International. POSTPARTUM SUPPORT INTERNATIONAL (PSI) Postpartum Support International (PSI) is an organization dedicated to raising awareness among public and professional communities about the emotional changes that women experience during pregnancy and postpartum. Approximately 15% of all women will experience postpartum depression following the birth of a child. Up to 10% will experience depression or anxiety during pregnancy. When the mental health of the mother is compromised, it affects the entire family. PSI Coordinators offer caring, informed support and resources to moms and their families. PSI also provides current information, resources, and education to area providers who are caring for pregnant and postpartum families. THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF THE EASTERN SHORE seeks high school students from the Lower Eastern Shore for its Youth Foundation Advisory Committee. Students conduct fundraisers for the Youth Foundation Endowment, now over $60,000, and award grants each spring to benefit youth programs serving Somerset, Wicomico or Worcester Counties. Comprehensive assessment and investigation of child neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and mental abuse reports.
