Pets-4-Vets Dog Walk SALISBURY, MD. The Salisbury Lions Club is doing a Pets-4-Vets Dog Walk on Armed Forces Day which is May 17th, 2008.The purpose of the Dog Walk is to help the men and women coming home from the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars.The government can only do so much for these individuals.It is our American right to help these individuals.We are raising funds to purchasedogs for any veteran of any war but particularly from the current war.The amount of emotional problems that they will endure are beyond our wildest dreams.It is estimated that 40 to 50 percent of the veterans will have emotional problems.The Salisbury Lions Club will donate the dog free of charge and the dog will also be trained at no cost to the veteran.Please help in any way to support our project. Mayday: For the Environment SALISBURY, MD.The Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art, Salisbury University, hosts the free environmental awareness event Mayday: For the Environment, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Friday, May 30 at the museum. Several partnering organizations will have informational booths set up along the nature trail. Students will have the opportunity to visit them while participating in a scavenger hunt. Teachers choose between four programs, taught by Environmental Concern, Pemberton Historical Park, the Salisbury Zoo and the Ward Museum. Program choices include wetlands reptiles, birds of prey and water quality testing. Teachers may choose up to two per class. Pre-registration is required by Thursday, May 15. Kindness of Strangers Golf Tournament SALISBURY, MD.This year’s event will be held May 31, 2008 @ Nutters Crossing Golf Course in Salisbury. 7th Annual Delmarva Soap Box Derby FEDERALSBURG, MD. The race is Saturday June 7th at 9am on West Central Avenue in Federalsburg (rain date June 8th). It is for boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 17 ,with help from an adult build their own car and race downhill (gravity powered - no motor).
