Safety Seat Awareness Day
SALISBURY, MD. The Salisbury Jaycees, in partnership with Saturn of Salisbury, present Safety Seat Awareness Day at the Saturn dealership 10 am-2 pm. While parents have their vehicles’ child safety seats inspected and, if necessary, reinstalled properly, children are invited to play games, sample free food, bounce on inflatables, enjoy Easter basket giveaways, and visit with the Easter Bunny and Saul, the Salisbury Jaycees Bear. Inspections are provided by certified child passenger safety technicians from Safe Kids Lower Shore of Maryland. Salisbury Jaycees Easter Egg Hunt
SALISBURY, MD. The Easter Bunny comes to the Salvation Army athletic fields on Eastern Shore Drive during the Salisbury Jaycees’ annual Easter egg hunt 10 a.m. Children throughout Wicomico County are invited to come hunt for some 3,000 candy-filled plastic eggs in three age categories ranging from 3-10. Other activities include face painting, children’s games, a jellybean counting contest and visits by the Easter Bunny and Saul, the
Salisbury Jaycees BearPrizes are awarded for best decorated Easter basket and to the child in each age groupwho finds the hidden golden egg. "The annual Easter egg hunt is one of the chapter’s most beloved traditions," said Kristin Spurrier, event chairperson. "Our members enjoy it almost as much as the children." As in past years, the Jaycees are asking community members to donate bags of individually wrapped candy to help fill the eggs. Donations may be dropped off at the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Building, The event is free and the public is invited. The rain date is Saturday, March 29. Worcester County Women Artists
OCEAN CITY, MD. The Art League of Ocean City, in conjunction with the Friends of the Worcester County Commission for Women, will present a juried art show during the Women’s History Luncheon at the Clarion Hotel in Ocean City. The theme of the luncheon will be "Celebrating the Vision of Women Artists of Worcester County". The exhibit is open to female artists residing in Worcester County ages 18 and up. All mediums are being sought including original paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, fiber arts, art glass, and jewelry. Monetary awards will be given, and the artist may choose to place their items for sale. Artists will also be included in a registry of Worcester County women artists to be compiled after the event. Sales of artwork will benefit the building fund of the Art League of Ocean City, and the McGuffey Summer Reading Program. To apply for entry, call (410) 726-7768.

Hit the Books
SALISBURY, MD. The Shorebirds & Sylvan Learning Center together sponsor Hit the Books, a program to encourage elementary and middle school kids to read. On four Saturday evenings in April and May, students from participating schools, will be treated to a free Shorebirds game. And participating schools parade around the infield with Sherman before the game, carrying banners that identify their schools. It's lots of fun. As guests of Sherman the Shorebird, students from participating schools in Sussex County (5th) and Worcester, Somerset, & Dorchester Counties (12th) will be honored.
