AI&G Fall Members Show: "On The Waterfront" Opens October 17th
The Art Institute & Gallery Fall Members Show with the theme "On The Waterfront" will run October 17 - November 15, 2008. The Opening Reception will be held on Friday, October 17 from 5-7 pm. "On The Waterfront" will feature both 2D and 3D art depicting life on the Eastern Shore and in the water areas on Delmarva. Of course, you'll enjoy our fabulous hors d'ouevres buffet created by Nancy Benderoth and Jody Drehmer. The Fall Members Show is sponsored by Anne DeMarco, Senior Loan Officer of SunTrust Mortgage in Salisbury. The judge for this exhibit is Lisa Fitzpatrick, ASID, CID and owner of Fitzpatrick Design Studio in Berlin, MD. Prizes will be awarded in First, Second and Third Place along with 3 Honorable Mention awards.
The AI&G Fine Craft & "Little Stuff" Exhibition Opens Nov. 21st.
The Art Institute & Gallery Fine Craft & Little Stuff Exhibition runs November 21 to December 23, 2008. The Opening Reception will be held on Friday, November 21 from 5-7 pm. The unique nature of this exhibition also features that all work is available for sale for holiday giving and may be picked up by December 23rd.
Fine Craft and Little Stuff will feature both very fine and artisan crafts along with 2D work under 8x10 and 3D art under 8". Of course, you'll enjoy our fabulous hors d'ouevres buffet created by Nancy Benderoth and Jody Drehmer.
This exhibition is sponsored by Urban Salisbury and the Downtown Salisbury Merchants. The judge for this exhibit is Clytie Taylor of Salisbury, MD. Prizes will be awarded in First, Second and Third Place along with 3 Honorable Mention awards in both categories..
The Foyer Gallery Solo Artist Exhibitor is Fred Peterson of Salisbury, MD and two-year volunteer Director of the AI&G National Juried Exhibition.

DESCRIPTION OF CLASS: In a SoulCollage workshop, meaningful images are found,
juxtaposed, and layered into a collage of 5" x 8". This is a satisfying, fun, and surprising process that captures and expresses something of who you are and what you enjoy or find relevant in your life. Beyond the creation of the collage, ways to journal with the collage or to share it as a gift will be offered. SUPPLIES: We will be working with mat board, images, glue, and scissors. All materials are provided at no additional cost. If you have a favorite pair of scissors you like to work with, or a photograph that wants to be included in the activity, please bring those along.

Start out at the AI&G for a lecture with world renowned artist Kevin Fitzgerald, then on to Salisbury Park for a day of plein air painting and a final critique in the park. Bring a bag lunch and all of your painting supplies, easel, and stool/chair and enjoy the day painting in all of fall's glory. This workshop is filling quickly with only limited spaces left. Art Institute & Gallery Special 4-Day Studio Class - Figure Study
The AI&G has a special class offer of a Four-Day Figure Study Studio Class for Beginner to Intermediate Adults beginning Thursday, January 8. Taught by accomplished artist and instructor, Marcia Cupschalk this class will enable students to learn the basics of live figure drawing using any dry media. Plotting, proportion and foreshortening are a few of the learning advantages of this class. A live model will be used for part of the classes. The dates are January 8, 15, 22, and 29, 2008 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon. Cost of the class is $120.00 plus a model fee paid to the instructor of $40.00.
